In the early morning, before the noise of the day starts, people of all ages prepare themselves with excercises from old traditions for their daily tasks. You can see some of them do some rhythmic stretching, others are training the remarkably slowly movements of Tai Chi Chuan. Among all those forms of movement you can sometimes see training ones that catch out attention even more. They are like the trees themselves: full of life - but simultaneously completetly still. This is known in China as the Chi Kung-system "Zhan Zhuang - Standing like a tree".
Chi Kung (pronounced: "Tschi Gung") literally means "energy exercise". The classical character for Chi consists of two elements. In the top part are five strokes that symbolize a pot with a handle. Be, die wie kleine Flamlow are four strokes that flicker like little flames. The whole character represents the cooking over an open fire. The calligraphy is an excellent illustration of the transformation of energy.
This genus comprises many, in method and approach very different systems. What unites them is the goal to stimulate the energy flow in the body, so that he can powerfully run through the network of his channels - the meridians. In the Tao Te King of Laotse, the classical writing of the Taoism, is thereto written:

Standing alone and unchanging,
One can observe every mystery,
Present at every moment and ceaselessly continuing -
This i sthe gateway to indiscribable marvels.
